On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Larimer County Farmers’ Market hosted Soil Health Day, bringing awareness to sustainable farming practices. One of the event’s stars? Beans! With their many benefits for improving soil health, beans were the perfect match for the theme of the day.
We were thrilled to be part of this event and contribute beans to the Colorado Dry Bean Committee's table. A special thanks goes out to the market staff, volunteers, and the many attendees who made the day a great success!
At the Colorado bean table, Northern Feed & Bean donated two types of locally grown beans: pinto beans and Mayocoba beans. Attendees had the opportunity to sample these flavorful varieties and pick up handouts featuring tips on cooking dry beans, along with information on how beans contribute to better soil health.
Beans are not only a nutritional powerhouse but also play a vital role in sustainable agriculture. They help improve soil structure, boost nitrogen levels, and promote biodiversity in farming systems.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We’re excited to keep spreading the word about the incredible benefits of beans—for both our plates and our planet!
